🏆 The critical leadership skill of detachment
🚀 Entrepreneurial resources to help build your next venture

🏆 On Self-Mastery —
Why it’s critical to detach in real time
Detachment is stepping back from the emotional momentum of a situation, so that you can more clearly assess it, and make a decision regarding how to move forward.
It’s a critical skill for leading yourself, your teams at work and even your family.
Jocko Willink is a master of detachment. In this video, Jocko explains the importance of being able to detach during a difficult event. He talks about how to notice when you’re stuck in the gravitational pull of emotion and detach before that pull becomes too strong. He also talks about the emotional and physical signs that tell you when it's time to detach and how to notice and act on them.
📚 If you’re keen to learn more about detachment, here’s two other videos where Jocko delves into the concept:
🚀 On Entrepreneurship —
Founder Sauce - The best resources to build your next venture: Now is probably the best time ever to be an entrepreneur. Part of the reason is the abundance of knowledge about business that is available for free on the internet.
Founder Sauce is one of the best collections of resources for budding entrepreneurs I’ve encountered. It has curated lists of tools to help you find an idea, build an MVP, test your idea, grow your customer base and even fund your company. Founder Sauce was created by Mashudu Modau, a fellow entrepreneur and someone who’s actively involved in the South African startup scene. He’s also a great person to follow on Twitter.
💪 On Health —
10 Minute Meditation for Stress and Anxiety: This 10 minute practice is a simple meditation that will ease your mind, calm your nerves and bring some calm to your day. It’s by one of my favorite people in health and wellness, Radhi Devlukia Shetty.
🙏 On Happiness —
“In order to come to your senses, you sometimes need to go out of your mind” - Alan Watts
Out of Your Mind by Alan Watts: I’ve been illuminated by Alan Watts’ work since I discovered a speech of his on Youtube in 2014. Watts was a British writer, speaker and self-described “spiritual entertainer” who helped popularize Eastern philosophy (most notably Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism) in the West during the 20th century.
“Out of Your Mind” is a collection of 12 of his essential talks about how to break through the limits of the rational mind and begin expanding your awareness and appreciation for the Great Game unfolding all around us. Every talk is filled with insights on life, the mind and how to live well. Watt’s enchanting speaking style, along with his wit and humor, elevate the already intriguing topics to a true joy to listen to.
If you’re looking for a place to begin, my favorite talks are “The World as Just So” (Chapter 7) and “The World as Self” (Chapter 9).
I usually listen to this book (and most other audiobooks) on Audible, but some kind souls have also made the talks available for everyone to listen to on Youtube for free.

👨🏽💻 What I'm up to these days:
What I’m listening to: “The Off Season” by J Cole, especially the song “m y. l i f e”.
What I’m watching: Ted Lasso - a show about an American football coach who gets a job coaching an English Premier League team. It’s a great watch, especially if you like football.
🙏 Thank you again for reading and for your support! I wish you a week of happiness, success and peace!
With gratitude,
Avthar
