Hi friends,
In the midst of my busiest month of the year as a technical product marketer at Timescale, I had the opportunity to see my favorite comedian, Trevor Noah, perform live in Philadelphia. I’ve been watching Trevor Noah’s comedy since I was a teenager in South Africa (Daywalker anyone?). In my opinion, Trevor is the G.O.A.T of South African standup comedy, and as someone who also moved from South Africa to the USA, I resonate with his outside-in views on American society and immigrant life.
In my short life, I’ve learned that there will always be more work to be done, and that we can’t allow ourselves to postpone appreciating life until all our conditions for happiness have been met. We must embrace renewal and recovery as we strive for lives of achievement and contribution. For me, laughter and comedy are part of that recovery phase. I’m glad I made the trip from NYC to Philadelphia to see the show, despite being knee-deep in work, because at the end of the day, it’s living according to your values - and making time for what matters to you - that makes life fulfilling.
I hope you make time for what matters to you this week - however big or small it may seem to the outside world.

Video of the week
“When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you’ll be successful.”
- Eric Thomas
Eric Thomas is one of my favorite motivational speakers. And his story is just as astonishing as his speaking ability.
He went from growing up in a single parent household, and being homeless, to inspiring millions of people all over the world with his story and ideas. This is hands down his best speech of all time.
It’s about the desire to succeed, pushing through pain and the sacrifices required to achieve your goals. If you’re a student, entrepreneur, or aspiring top performer, you need to watch it.
🙏 Thank you again for reading and for your support! I wish you a week of happiness, success and peace!
With gratitude,
Avthar
